It is with great pleasure that I accept the role as Wirrawandi Aboriginal Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer. The opportunity in front of me to create meaningful and lasting relationships with the Mardudhunera and Yaburara people who have graciously invited me into this leadership position is a tremendous honour, and one I very much look forward to embracing with open arms.

My journey with Wirrawandi marks a significant milestone in my career, and I am eager to embark on this path alongside our incredible staff, board of directors and community. We are committed to actively engaging with our members, listening to your voices, and working collaboratively to create better opportunities and outcomes for all. To achieve this, I plan to be a visible presence in Karratha, striving to connect with our community members in person, and engaging in face-to-face conversations that drive growth and encourage new ideas.

As Max DePree wisely stated, “The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is to say thank you. In between, the leader is a servant.” This philosophy deeply resonates with my style of management and work, and I am committed to embodying this principle throughout my tenure.

I was born and raised in Geraldton on a small family farm. My career has taken me to various corners of Western Australia, where I've had the privilege of working in regional and remote communities like Karratha, Fitzroy Crossing, Kununurra, Menzies, Mukinbudin, Donnybrook, Waroona, and Albany. During my free time, you'll often find me at the gym, staying active with bike rides, or simply enjoying precious moments with my family, children, and grandchildren.

With a diverse background spanning the public, private, and indigenous community sectors, I've excelled in driving new initiatives and fostering growth. My experience includes executive management roles in various institutions, including banks, state government departments like Superannuation, Shared Services, Department of Water, WA Police, North Metropolitan Health Services, and the Shire of Menzies. My expertise lies in effecting strategic growth and transformative change, reshaping workplace cultures to align with our collective vision and mission.

As the new CEO of Wirrawandi Aboriginal Corporation, my primary goal is to lead the organisation toward achieving the strategic objectives outlined in our Strategic Plan. To measure our progress, we will benchmark our achievements against the milestones set in our Strategic Plan and regularly assess the positive impact of these objectives on our community. Success will be measured through the improved well-being and prosperity of Wirrawandi’s members and the growth and recognition of our organisation in line with these priorities. These priorities are:

  1. Affirm our Identity, Culture and Kinship
  2. Good Governance and Decision Making
  3. Healing and Trauma Recovery
  4. Commercial Opportunities, and
  5. Building our profile

I am excited about the journey ahead and the positive impact we can make together. Wirrawandi Aboriginal Corporation has a bright future, and I am committed to working tirelessly to realise the full potential for our deserving members.

I look forward to meeting each of you and embarking on this exciting journey together.

Sincerely,

Antonio Giometti

CEO, Wirrawandi Aboriginal Corporation
